The story of Big Blue

When Paul had the bright idea to get a horse lorry I rejoiced thinking he finally was thinking about my horses. But alas (for me!) He had bigger plans for the 7.5 tonne Blue lorry that arrived to us on a low loader just a few weeks later.

The first job was to strip her right out and ensure the roof was watertight. Then we made a huge hole in it so we could add in the dome to give a sleeping under the stars experience, whilst snug and warm in bed.

When we had the empty canvas we could really start to design how we wanted her to look, modern funky, light and airy or snuggly and cosy. One thing that got a lot of debate was the flushing loo, inside or outside?! After many debates we decided having the loo within Big Blue would give the warmest midnight loo dash experience. Big Blue offers a back to nature holiday with plenty of comfort to make your holiday a real relaxing break.

Big Blue finally started to come together, it was a huge family affair. Paul spent countless hours working on her and Bertha the shower trailer, often with a little helpy helper in tow. There were many challenges but throughout the whole conversion the main focus was to give a unique, cosy, special experience for our guests

Finally Paul got to sit back and enjoy the haven that he created from a old and tired lorry to the shiny and quirky lorry we have now.

So we welcome you to come and join us to experience Big Blue. She resides in a special, quiet corner of the farm and enjoys the most amazing sunrises often overlooking the sheep, alpaca or horses. We hope we have packed her full of all the bits you should need for your stay. So just bring yourselves and a book,

First Day of the Season

We are now open for 2018! It’s been a fairly hectic week getting everything organised but we have got there in the end and The Orchard looks fabulous. As you know we are trying to reduce our single use plastics this year and as always we strive to use the best local products that we can find. Our first small step is to swap out the small throw away plastic complimentary products we supply for our guests and we are replacing them with some fabulous products from the team at Bskincare. The hand wash smells amazing and is locally made with lush natural products. We hope you will love them as much as we do.

Our first blog

Well we're a bit late getting our 2018 blog off the ground, our January Special Offer has proved really popular which has kept us all busy. We had an amazing year in 2017, a Gold Cornwall Tourism Award in the Glamping and Alternative accommodation has to be one of our highlights. We work so hard to ensure every guest has the best experience they can have and it's a real boost for the whole team to have that recognised - plus Paul and I got to have a very rare night out together. We are aiming for an even better year in 2018, we hope to bring you even more Safari adventures that you can enjoy on the farm.

One of our goals for 2018 is to reduce the single use plastics - we have just received our new metal and silicon straws and we are working hard to replace other reusables with sustainable alternatives. We can't wait to see you all!
